A 1920s Writing Prompt (Quote of the Day)

I have to wonder if that pun was intended. Horse racing? A stable business? Ha! I don't generally think of Steinbeck as a comedian, but he might just surprise me.

Now if only he could magically show up and give me some writing tips...

Today's Prompt: You're at a horse race in the 1920s, watching intently. Suddenly, to the shock of everyone, the leader of the pack (who is by all appearances a real horse) stutters and breaks down into a heap of metal and gears. Write a story about these events and what happens subsequently.

Happy Writing!
